Pre-Arrival
- The main house was built in 1880 circa, with a building extension for additional bedrooms, completed in the early 1980’s. The majority of the rooms have a view over the garden to Morecambe Bay.
- We are located 3.6miles from the A590; 13.2 miles from Junction 36 on the M6 and within 400 meters from Grange Main Street.
- Grange-over-Sands train station is 800 meters away, approximately a 20 minute walk, or short taxi ride.
- There are several local independent taxis firms in the area that we are happy to arrange the services off on your behalf.
- There is a bus stop 1-minute walk from Clare House and there is a frequent bus service.

- The majority of our information is available in large print, although we do not have facilities to re-produce it in braille.
- We find it very helpful if guests could let us know, at the time of booking, any special dietary requirements, allergies, special requirements and additional assistance they may have or require. We will then endeavour to do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- Check-in on arrival, your room will be available from 12 noon onwards. If you would like to arrive during the morning (or even for breakfast, by prior arrangement) you may check-in and leave your luggage with us leaving you free to start your holiday.
- Entrance from the road to Clare House is through a stone pillared gateway, which is on a downward slope, this leads to ample car parking on a gravel surface, again on a downward slope, albeit gentler than the entrance.
- There is ample room for 17-cars in marked parking bays, with drop off close to the front door. The car park has low-level lighting at night.
- Assistance with guest’s luggage is offered on your arrival and departure.
- We will show you the hotel facilities and to your room on arrival.
- Guest room keys are provided on check-in.
- Guests will be asked at check-in if they require any additional assistance in the case of an emergency.
Main Entrance & Reception
- The approach to the front door is paved on a slight incline leading to two steps 18cm high. There is a handrail to your right.
- The front door is 200cm wide and leads into the main hallway.
- The front door is unlocked between 7am and 10:30pm, with a front door bell for your assistance at other times.
- There is seating provided in the hallway
- There is a tiled entrance area leading to the carpeted hallway, reception office and ground floor bedrooms.
- The reception office is located along the ground floor corridor access is via 2 steps, at a height of 20cm, on the main hallway. There is a handrail on the right of your ascent and we can provide a ramp access on request. The doorway is 70cm wide.
Disabled Access
- The dining room, lounges and public ladies toilet are on the ground floor at entrance hall level and all are carpeted throughout.
- We have four ground floor bedrooms. Access to these is via 2 steps, at a height of 20cm, on the main hallway. There is a handrail on the right of your ascent. After the steps, the corridor narrows to 89cm.
- The public gents toilet is also accessed via the 2 steps from the entrance hall level.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
- The corridors on the ground floor are a width of 89cm at the narrowest, doorways at a width of 79cm at narrowest.
- The dining room has a maximum capacity of 36; Tables and chairs are all freestanding and we are happy to arrange seating plans to accommodate our guests needs as best we can. Breakfast and dinner are served here. There is access from the dining room onto the car park; the door width is 150cm with two steps at a height of 11cm that lead down onto the paved and graveled seating area.
- The lounges offer low-level armchairs, sofas and coffee tables. Both lounges have open fireplaces, which are used during colder times in the spring and autumn.
- The building is centrally heated with thermostat-controlled radiators in each room and area.
- All areas are fitted with smoke detectors, fire alarms and emergency lighting. Emergency exits and routes are clearing marked.
- Private and Staff Only areas are clearly marked.
- The main staircase to the first floor ascends from the entrance hall. The staircase is 105cm wide and there are 17 stairs each with a rise of 18cm. Handrails on both side of the ascent and is a height of 80cm. The stairs are carpeted in the centre section only.
Bedrooms
- All bedrooms are fitted with a Heat Detector Fire Alarm and display Emergency Evacuation Procedures.
- All bedrooms are en-suite and have a; flat screen colour TV with freeview and remote control; tea and coffee making facilities with cordless kettle; thermostat controlled central heating; natural lighting; seating and workspace; hairdryer; telephone and blankets on the bed (s).
- Bedrooms are located on the ground, first and second floor. Access to the first floor is via the main staircase within the entrance hall.
- All beds are at a height of between 50cm and 58cm. Washbasins at a height of 85 cm and toilet basins at a height of 40cm. All rooms have bedside lighting.
Bedroom 1. Double-bedded room
- Situated on the first floor in the original part of the house and has one step of 17cm up into the room with an 82 cm wide doorway.
- The room has a double bed with access from both sides.
- The en-suite bathroom has a shower over a bath, bath lip is 45cm high.
Bedroom 2. Double-bedded room.
- Situated on the first floor in the original part of the house and has two steps into the room (20cm and 17cm steps) with an 82 cm doorway.
- The room has standard double bed with access from both sides; space around the bed is at the narrowest, 50cm on the right and 70 cm on the left.
- The en-suite has a walk-in shower.
Bedrooms 3 & 6 – Single-bedded rooms.
- Situated on the first floor in the original part of the house. From the top of the stairs, the corridor turns to the right and has two steps both with a rise of 18cm with a handrail on the right.
- Both rooms have standard single beds with access from one side, with access not less than 145 cm.
- The en-suite has a walk-in shower.
Bedroom 4. Super-king or Twin-bedded room.
- Situated on the first floor in the original part of the house. From the top of the stairs, the corridor turns to the right and has two steps both with a rise of 18cm with a handrail on the right.
- The standard twin beds are pushed together and can be made up as twin or super-king; access from either side. There is armchair seating in the bay window.
- The en-suite has a separate bath and a walk-in shower.
Bedroom 5. Twin-bedded room.
- Situated on the first floor in the original part of the house. From the top of the stairs, the corridor turns to the right and has two steps both with a rise of 18cm with a handrail on the right.
- The standard twin beds are pushed together and can be made up as twin or super-king; access from either side. There is armchair seating in the bay window.
- The en-suite has a separate bath and a walk-in shower.
Bedroom 10, 11 ,12, 13, 14 – Super king or twin-bedded room
- Situated on the first floor in the new extension and on a level access from the top of the main staircase through a fire door, the corridor narrows to a minimum width of 90cm.
- The standard twin beds are pushed together and can be made up as twin or super-king; access from either side.
- The en-suite bathrooms in Room 10, 11 & 14 have a shower over the bath which is 45cm high. Rooms 12 & 13 have walk in showers.
- This room has a sliding doors onto a small balcony.
Bedroom 7. Single-bedded room.
- Situated on the second floor in the original house, accessed by a second staircase. This staircase is 85 cm wide with a handrail of 80cm in height, and has 3-steps up turns o the right, 11 steps followed by a further 3-steps up to the right. Each step has a rise of 19cm and is carpeted in the centre section only.
- The Room is in the eaves of the roof and has a standard single bed accessed from one side.
- The en suite bathroom has a shower over the bath which is 45cm high.
Bedroom 8. Double-bedded room.
- Situated on the second floor in the original house, accessed by a second staircase. This staircase is 85 cm wide with a handrail of 80cm in height, and has 3-steps up turns o the right, 11 steps followed by a further 3-steps up to the right. Each step has a rise of 19cm and is carpeted in the centre section only.
- The Room is in the eaves of the roof and has a standard double bed accessed from both sides.
- The en suite bathroom has a shower over the bath which is 45cm high.
Bedroom 9. Twin-bedded room.
- Situated on the second floor in the original house, accessed by a second staircase. This staircase is 85 cm wide with a handrail of 80cm in height, and has 3-steps up turns to the right, 11 steps followed by a further 3-steps up to the right. Each step has a rise of 19cm and is carpeted in the centre section only.
- The room is in the eaves of the roof and has standard twin beds; both beds are accessed from each side.
- The en suite bathroom has a shower over the bath which is 45cm high.
Bedrooms 15 & 16 Twin-bedded rooms.
- Situated on the ground floor of the extension, (see above for description on access)
- The rooms have standard twin beds, which are both accessed from one side.
- The en suite has a walk-in shower; the toilet has no access from the side (less the 30cm from the wall).
- The room has sliding doors onto a small wooden decking balcony.
Bedroom 17. Super-king or Twin-bedded room.
- Situated on the ground floor of the extension, (see above for description on access).
- The standard twin beds are pushed together and can be made up as twin or super-king; access from either side.
- There is a small dressing room leading from the bedroom.
- The en-suite has a bath and a walk-in shower.
- The room has sliding doors onto a balcony and steps down into the garden.
Bedroom 18 Super-king or Twin-bedded room.
- Situated on the ground floor of the extension, (see above for description on access).
- The standard twin beds are pushed together and can be made up as twin or super-king; access from either side.
- The en-suite bathroom has a shower bath left 45cm high.
- The room has sliding doors onto a balcony.
Garden and Grounds
- We have a Victorian walled, well tendered, garden to the front of the house overlooking the promenade and bay. The garden is approximately ¾ of an acre with a gentle sloping gravel path along the right side wall from the car park. The lawn area is mainly flat with ample seating, tables and parasols. There are tables and seating situated on a terrace area by the front door and dining room French windows, also in front of the lounges; these terrace areas are on the level.
Further Information
- Clare House operates a ‘No-smoking’ policy throughout the hotel. We do provide a discreet smoking area outside.
- Mobile phone coverage is generally good throughout the hotel and within the town.
- The Wireless Network , WiFi, offers limited coverage within the hotel.
